Martin Ferguson


Journalist and Communications Consultant

Martin Ferguson is a freelance journalist and communications consultant specialising in corporate travel and aviation. Originally from Glasgow, he started his career on local and regional newspapers before working for the BBC on the acclaimed travel & culture series Tales from Europe, presented by Kirsty Wark. After a short stint on the production team of C4’s Location, Location, Location, he moved back to newspapers, working on the news desks of Glasgow-based national titles.

In 2007, Martin joined the editorial team at Travel Trade Gazette in London. Later, he became editor of Buying Business Travel and Air & Business Travel News. In 2010, he was enticed to join the “dark side” by global travel technology giant Sabre, where he spent almost three years as head of media relations and communications for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

As a freelance, Martin is a regular contributor to specialist corporate travel and aviation publications in the UK and US. He moderates forums, seminars and events and has spoken on the subject of managed travel to audiences across Europe. His corporate clients include PR firms, travel management companies (TMCs) and travel suppliers for whom he assists with media strategy, PR campaigns, White Papers, copywriting, social media policy, speech writing, crisis communications and media training for senior executives and company spokesmen.

Martin lives in Bolnore, West Sussex, where he manager of the local amateur football club. He is married with two daughters.
